Hallway Productionz The phrases “two time Grammy nominated” and “chart topping producers” are synonymous with the name Hallway Productionz. Hallway Productionz are brothers Teak and Dee Underdue. Dee’s grittyproduction style, Pro tools mastery, mixing and engineering skill matched with Teak’s versatility on thebass, guitar, drums and keyboards sets their musical ability far above the rest. Their sound is described aseclectic, hard hitting, musical and influential. With four top 10 albums on “Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart” and seven albums on “Billboard’s Top 10 Hip Hip/R&B Charts” throughout their career, Hallway Production’s sound is simply undeniable. Dee’s production and recording skill began to create a huge buzz in Northern California’s Central Valley. In 2003, Teak successfully graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, but doubted his future in pre-medicine due to his undeniable knack for making music. Blackalicious producer Chief Xcel heard about Teak & Dee’s talents and quickly recruited them as his primary session players. They were musicians on Chief Xcel produced songs featuring Talib Kweli, George Clinton, Marsha Ambroshia, Ledisi, Gift of Gab, Lyrics Born, DJ Shadow, Lateef The Truth Speaker, The Life Savas and various TV Commercials for companies including McDonalds and Target. It was during this time that the Hip Hop group Dead Prez recorded the song “Coming of Age” for their “ Get Free Or Die Trying” album to Teak & Dee’s production. Teak & Dee also began producing music for Rah Records, a bay area based Hip Hop label. Rah Records needed breakthrough artists so Dee arranged meetings with BA and Keak Da Sneak, members of 3Xs Krazy. RahRecords soon recruited members of the Mob Figaz to create a super group of MCs. The label produced the successful “Dope Game” compilation albums heavily produced by Hallway Productionz. The albums’ charttopping song “That’s My Word” by Keak Da Sneak exposed the hyphy movement to the world. While working with record labels in the Central Valley and the Bay Area, Teak and Dee were also building relationships with notable producers in the music industry. In 2004 Teak and Dee began working with critically acclaimed gospel rapper T-Bone from “The Fighting Temptations” movie and rapper WC of Westside Connection. After hearing Teak and Dee’s work with WC, Ice Cube’s DJ, Dj Crazy Toones, gave Ice Cube a beat cd by Hallway Productionz. Ice Cubewrote the songs “Anybody Seen The Po-pos?!” and “D*** Tease” to two tracks on that cd. Ice Cube told the Duo that he wanted to use the song "Anybody Seen The Po-pos?!" for the “XXX State of the Union” soundtrack & movie he had starred in. This began the 10+ year partnership between Ice Cube and Hallway.In 2005 Ice Cube began work on his seventh solo LP “Laugh Now Cry later.” Teak and Dee produced four songs with two songs making the final cut for the album. The Album was certified Gold in 2006 selling over 500,000 copies making the album the biggest independent release of 2006. In 2006, Teak& Dee began producing songs for the “Bone-a-fide” album by T-Bone. The album featured two songs “Let That Thang Go,” and “ I Been Looking Around” produced by Hallway. That winter, the “Bone-a-fide”album was nominated for the Best Gospel Rock/ Rap Grammy. In 2007, Hallway Productionz won the prestigious Dove Award for the Rap/HipHop Song of the Year, "Name Droppin" by T-Bone. In 2009 Teak played bass, guitar & keyboards on the song "Runnin" from the album "Turn Me Loose" by Ledisi. In December 2009, "Turn Me Loose" was nominated for a Grammy in the Best R&B Album category. This nomination was the second Grammy nod for Hallway Productionz. Teak also played bass guitar & keyboards on the Ledisi album “Pieces of Me” which was also nominated for a Grammy in the “Best R&B Album” category. Hallway Productionz continues with their formula of great music and quality in every genre.
